week ending 28th January

We have enjoyed another busy week in class and have worked hard to grow our learning. Here are some of the activities we have taken part in this week:

English

This week in English, the children wrote and published their own books called ‘We’re going on a polar bear hunt’. Everybody worked so hard to use lots of expressive language as well as remembering capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Well done!

Maths

This week in maths we have been learning our number bonds to 10 and 20. We have enjoyed a range of activities including an online maths game called Hit the Button! We had to be very quick to press as many correct answers as we could in 60 seconds!

DT

This week in DT we looked at the eatwell plate and discussed the different food groups. We talked about why eating fruit and vegetables was so important, as they provide us with vitamins and minerals. We are now aiming to eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day! We are looking forward to making our own cous cous salad next week. Please remember to bring in a container for this on Thursday.

Science

As a class, we discussed that ‘diet’ means the foods animals eat. We then identified the three diet types; herbivore, carnivore and omnivore. In groups, we sorted animals according to what they eat.
