Week 1 - w/c 27.02.23

It was a pleasure to welcome the children back into the 2nd half of this academic year.
What a busy week we had - full of celebrations!
Here's some of what we got up to ...

Thursday 2nd March brought with it one of our most favourite celebrations of the year - World Book Day!  The whole school enjoyed a day celebrating reading for pleasure.  Everyone loved dressing up (or down) - including the staff ! Each class enjoyed a drama workshop based on their costumes and the books they had brought in to share.  Then older children partnered up with younger children to enjoy each other's books and share reading experiences.  Every class produced some beautiful art work and displays based on a book The River by Marc Martin.  It was a truly memorable day for all - I hope you can see the enjoyment and experiences gained in the pictures below.

It was AUTISM AWARENESS this week.  We enjoyed celebrating everyone's differences, learning what Autism is and how it can affect people.  We thought about how we can be good friend to one another and how we can support people with Autism.

Wednesday the 1st of March was, of course, St David's Day.  The children in school behaved impeccably as Richard presented a special Collective Worship and then enjoyed St David's Day activities.  In 5/6B, we created dragon pictures from pastels and felt pictures of the traditional Welsh dress.  After that, in our house teams, we performed "A Welsh Act in a Bag".  Each group was given a bag containing 8 items to do with Wales and St David's Day.  They then has to create and perform a scene of their choice such as a TV Ad, a poem or short play.  Everyone had great fun!

In PE, we are working on Hockey skills with Mr Barnes and Football skills with Mrs Leng ...
