Welcome to St. Paul's Early Years Foundation Stage

Our EYFS Unit

Our EYFS unit combines our 30 place (15 per session) Nursery provision as well as a Reception intake of 45 children. 

There are two classes in our Early Years. Each class is led by a class teacher. During their time in our unit, all pupils will work with both class teachers as well as all of our teaching assistants and our Senior Early Years Educator on a range of child-initiated and adult-led activities.

All children are allocated a named Key Person prior to their start with us in EYFS. 

Entry into EYFS (Nursery or Reception)  September 2024

Parent's Information Meeting

If your child will be with us in EYFS (Nursery or Reception) in September 2024 you are  invited you to a meeting about starting life at St Paul's on Tuesday 4th June at 2pm in the school hall. 

This meeting is not suitable for children to attend (we will hold taster sessions at a later time for them)

 

Home Visits

For children and families new to St Paul's we will be carryingout home visits. These will take place before the taster sessions where possible. We will let you know the date and time at the meeting in June. 

 

Taster Sessions

We will hold some short taster sessions in July: Your child will be allocated two taster session dates and times to attend. These dates will be given to you at the Parent's Information Meeting on June 4th.

Please note that we will not have the capacity to change the date or time of the allocated session should your child not be able to attend. 

Nursery Taster sessions:      Tuesday 2nd July and Tuesday 9th July 9.15 - 10.15 am

            or                                  Tuesday 2nd July and Tuesday 9th July 10.30 - 11.30 am

 

Reception Taster Sessions:  Wednesday 3rd and Wednesday 10th July 9.15 - 10.15am

            or                                  Wednesday 3rd and Wednesday 10th July 10.30 - 11.30 am

 

 

A 'Staggered Start'

To be able to get to know all of the children joining us as well as those who are making the transition from Nursery to Reception, we have a 'staggered start for all our children including those who already attended our Nursery provision.Individual dates and times will be given to you at the Parent's Information Meeting on June 4th.

The information below is a general outline - some children may have their own timetable for an enhanced transition as discussed by staff.

 

Week beginning 2nd September: Monday - School Closed - Teacher Training Day

                                                     Tuesday and Wednesday - 1:1 'show around' sessions

​​​​​​​                                                     Thursday and Friday  - Nursery short morning (9-10.30) or afternoon (1-2.20) sessions

                                                                                        Reception 8.55- 11.30 or 12.45 -3.10

 

Week beginning 9th September:  Monday to Friday - Nursery Mornings or Afternoons - no lunch or full day sessions

                                                                                    8.45-11.45 or 12 noon to 3pm

                                                    Monday to Wednesday  - Reception 8.55 to 11.45 or 12.15 to 3.10

                                                   Thursday and Friday      - Reception  8.55 - 1pm (Children in Reception stay for lunch)

 

Week beginning 16th September

Nursery - booked sessions including full days - if child is settled and this is the appropriate stage of transition

Reception - School is full time for most children from this time onwards.

Meet the Team

 

Our adults in EYFS  are committed to enriching your child’s learning and to provide your child with a secure foundation to support them as they move through school. We promote positive learning behaviours, in line with the Characteristics of Effective Learning which consists of creativity, activity, persistence, resilience and independence, as we explore, problem solve and collaborate within the Unit.

Your child will experience a balance of child initiated opportunities and challenges and adult directed focused learning sessions.

EYFS Support Staff

During there time in EYFS all our adults will work with the children.

Our support staff are:

Mrs Saunders  ~ Senior Early Years Educator, Speech and language support,  (full time )

Mrs Kalsi ~ Teaching Assistant, speech and language support, Lego Therapy. (Monday to Thursday)

Miss Gilbert ~ Teaching Assistant, lunch time support (full time and lunches)

Mrs Arora~ Teaching Assistant, lunchtime support (full time and lunches)

Miss Rowley ~ Teaching  Assistant  ( full time)

Mr Barnes ~ EYFS PE teacher, teaching assistant (Thursday and Friday afternoons)
