Week ending 28.4.2023
English:
We have planned and started writing our alternative ending of Rapunzel. To start with, everyone was involved in talking about possible ideas, which we then made notes on for display. So many ideas. From this the children chose their favourite and drew a story map. Three boxes: problem, solution and ending. You may like to spot the story maps involving escaping using toilets!
On Thursday, we started writing. We will finish on Friday but so far, some amazing independent work. I want the children to think carefully about their sentences, using capital letter and full stops even more accurately. We talked a lot about how to limit the usage of "and" in our writing to joining two sentences only.
Collective Worship:
I led Thursday's Collective Worship where we talked about the importance of having a Growth Mindset as opposed to having a Fixed Mindset. We are all going to try to think positively and avoid phrases like " I can't do it" or " I'll never be able to do it" and instead say " I can't do it yet" or I will be able to do it if I have a go or ask".
