Week ending 12.5.2023

Hello everyone,

Well, it has been another busy week in Year 1A and the children have been amazing.  We are so proud of them and the way they have quickly settled into new class routines.

It's lovely to see their smiles and watch as their confidence grows.

The classroom is looking lovely with all their work and it's a pleasure to see how proud they are of all they have achieved.

We are all super proud of them.

Any questions regarding spellings or homework please don't hesitate to ask. Also, please remember with spellings and reading practise-little and often is the best way.

You can be assured that your children work very hard in class!

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Young and Mr Hawkins

English

This week our adventures with Rapunzel continued.  Rapunzel herself came in to be interviewed(actually Mrs Young but tell anyone).  Using our question words the class found out lots about her feelings and how she had felt when first locked up.  Then we reminded ourselves of the naughty song by Matilda.  Just because Rapunzel was little it didn't mean she had to accept her fate.  We remembered how strong we are and also how strong and brave Rapunzel was.  She didn't need to be rescued by anyone but herself.

We looked at different types of Diary and then wrote our own shared diary entry before having a go on our own.  See what you think.

The children were amazing. They used lots of time connectives, wrote as if they were Rapunzel and remembered to use past tense.

They were also quite brutal in their endings...after reading these I'm not sure Rapunzel's Daddy will be stealing lettuces anytime soon!
