week ending 18th February

It was wonderful to end the last week of this half term by finally welcoming visitors back into school.  Thank you so much to Jack's Dad and Jesse's Mum who spent the afternoon with us bringing our Geography learning to life.  Jack's dad shared photos and stories from his work as a Tour Guide in Kenya's National Parks and Jesse's Mum talked to us about life in Uganda, a country that borders Kenya, and how she works to bring water into the lives of the people there.  Her pictures enhanced our learning about their culture.  We were able to discuss similarities and differences between our own lives and the lives of children in Africa.  Thank you once again for your time - the children really enjoyed your visit.

Maths

This week in maths we have been looking at relationship between addition and subtraction. We have been looking at tens frames to create four addition/ subtraction sentences.

E.g.

8 + 4 = 12

4 + 8 = 12

12 - 8 = 4

12 - 4 = 8

English

In English this week we have been planning and writing our very own non-fiction texts about polar bears. We've written full sentences with lots of facts and have organised our writing under subheadings. Take a look!

Science

Our science lesson this week was a very fun one... exploring our senses! We've had great fun tasting various food to decide whether they were sweet or sour. We also had to complete a blindfold challenge to explore the importance of our sense of sight. We noticed that when one of our senses is taken away, we have to utilise our other senses even more!
