Week 1

We have had a busy first week back getting to know each other and have enjoyed not having to maintain our class bubbles. The children have settled back into the school routines very well and have completed some work of which they should be very proud.

Our learning this week has been focussed around the book, 'What We'll Build' by Oliver Jeffers. We have really enjoyed reading through the story and looking closely at the drawings. In English the children have been considering what they consider to be their home and what makes it their home. We have discussed how a home doesn't have to be a house but could be a place or person. The children drew what their idea of home and wrote some descriptions linked to the drawing. In maths we have begun to look at place value, looking at how numbers can be represented in different ways.

We began our science topic on rocks and soils. We particularly enjoyed investigating which rock types are permeable whilst describing the properties of different shapes. We began our History Topic on the Stone Age by ordering some significant events chronologically. We completed a Thrive activity each day based around getting to know each other better.

Congratulations to Macey for winning our Values award this week with the value of "Challenging."
