Week Beginning 8th November

We have had another busy week in 2C!

I am looking forward to continuing to teach 2C over the next 4 weeks.

Remembrance Day

This week we found out why we wear poppies in November. We created some poppy artwork using different types of paper. On Thursday 11th November our Collective Worship was all about Remembrance Day and we held a two minute silence at 11am.

In ENGLISH we continued our work on the book Lila and the Secret of rain. We focused on adverbial phrases from the book.

      For weeks and weeks...

      One night...

      One evening ...

      The following morning ...

      First...

      Then ...

      Suddenly ...

We had great fun making our own story maps.

In MATHS we started the week by adding a single digit number to a 2-digit number. For example 56 + 8  = ? To work out the answers we had to cross a multiple of ten, we used base ten and number lines to help us calculate the answers. Later in the week we moved onto working on subtraction calculations that crossed a multiple of ten, we used base ten to help us and next week we will look at using number lines to help us solve subtraction problems.

In PE we continued our dance unit on Animals of Africa, this links to our English book that is set in Kenya. The children impressed me with both their hippo and snake dances.
