week 4

In English this week the children took part in a class debate, discussing whether they would like to live as a child in the Stone Age or not. The children put forward their points of view and listened well to each other then responded with a counter-argument. Approximately half the class would have liked to live in the Stone Age! The children then took part in drama to act out scenes from the story and have then planned their own Stone Age story.

In Maths we have been learning to add and subtract a 1 digit number from a 2 digit number and then from a 3 digit number. The children used the strategies of using base 10 and number lines. The children have been practising their times tables, we have looked at learning the division facts as well as the multiplication facts.

In Science we did an investigation to find out which is the hardest rock. The children made predictions and then tested it by rubbing a selection of rocks with sand paper, looking at the amount of dust from each rock. The children recorded their results in a table and wrote an evaluation. Great work everyone.
