Week ending 15.10.21.

English

This week we have been identifying the differences between fiction and non-fiction books. We have been gathering facts about autumn and thinking of sub-headings for our posters all about this season. We have worked hard at spotting mistakes within sentences and also written sentences of our own. Our sentences have started with a capital letter and finished with a full stop. We have also tried hard to sound out each word before attempting to spell it and included finger spaces.

Maths

This week we have introduced the addition symbol +. Using the addition symbol + and equals symbol we made number sentences. For example, 5 + 2 = 7. We also identified addition fact families. For example:

4 + 1 = 5

1 + 4 = 5

5 = 4 + 1

5 = 1 + 4

Science

This week we thought carefully about the season of winter and how both we and animals adapt for the colder weather. We identified animals that hibernate, migrate and adapt.

History

We began to learn about what happened after the Gunpowder Plot and read parts of the King's Proclamation of 1605. We completed a 'Wanted' poster for Thomas Percy which included labels and a sentence describing him.
