Week 1 w/e 07.01.22

WELCOME BACK !

It was lovely to welcome everyone (well almost!) back into the classroom this week and it was fantastic to chat about the wonderful Christmas times and memories everyone had from the holidays.

As it was a short week, we buckled down with some practical maths, recapping tens and ones and place value using a number square.   We spent an afternoon discussing the question "What is a friend?"  with lots of scenarios, stories and discussion of the qualities good friends show and how friendships can be repaired when there are fall outs.  We carried out an independent writing task - a recount of an activity we enjoyed during the festive period and on Thursday we remembered to change our class vicar's robes back to green, signalling Ordinary Time had returned in the church calendar.

A highlight of this 1st week back for the children was taking part in the Virtual Infant Agility Competition. Schools from the whole of Warwickshire, Solihull and Coventry will take part with activities including sprinting, accurate throwing, chest passing, standing long jump and speed bounce.

Everyone tried their best and had great fun.  Scores were recorded and passed to Mrs Newbold, who will send the results into Central Warwickshire School Sports Partnership ( CWSSP) by half term. We look forward to receiving the results during March 2022.

To end the week, we enjoyed creating Winter scenes using chalks...
