Week 5

It has been a strange week as 5/6B have been split into two parts. Some of the children have stayed in school where they have been taught by Mrs Young and Mrs MacRae and the rest of the children have been in North Wales with myself, Miss Green, Mr Barnes, Mrs Wellicome and Mr Bown.

I came back to school on Thursday and was delighted to hear how hard the children have been working. In English the children have had a break from Street Child and have been looking at Blodin the Beast. The children have done work on figurative language and exploring the different pictures in the book and then the week culminated in some drama. In maths the children have been looking at factors and multiples, prime and composite numbers and also square numbers. The children have looked at some different problems where they could use their knowledge to help them solve the questions. In art the children have linked their work to Blodin the Beast and have used nature to inspire some art work.

The children in North Wales have done a full range of activities including: climbing, abseiling, laser tag, raft building, orienteering and many other things. Whilst I was there I was very impressed with the children's teamwork and willingness to throw themselves (sometimes literally) into new activities. The children have also really looked out for each other and also the staff there. They have been a credit to the school.

This weeks song choice is by Scottish band Idlewild. A good song to run to and one that has featured heavily on my running playlist, I am sure the band will be delighted to know that they have been added to the 5/6B Friday Playlist.

Thanks,
