English

This week we began a new unit of work on instructions. We have identified what instructions are and thought about the features of them. We have had to follow instructions to plant a bean. We know what an imperative verb is and have used these in our writing. The children have also used role play to give instructions to their partner and used this as an aid to planning their own set of written instructions.

Maths

This week we have looked at arrays (an arrangement of objects or pictures in columns or rows). We have identified the number of rows or columns within an array as well as the number of objects within that row or column. We ended the week, working in groups outside, to create our own arrays for a given number of cones. Children had to find as many different possibilities for each set of given cones.
