I hope everyone had a lovely half term. We have had a great first week back. Our topic this half term is chocolate, the children seem very pleased about this! On Tuesday we discussed what the children already know about chocolate, enjoyed chocolate tasting and finding out everyone's favourite chocolate. We then made tally charts and bar charts. The children then wrote their own fantastic acrostic poems about chocolate. In Geography the children learnt to use an atlas to locate countries that produce cocoa beans.

Our book this half term is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The children enjoyed listening to the first few chapters and we focused on the character Charlie. The children then wrote a character description of Charlie. 

In Maths we have been learning about fractions: half, quarter and thirds. Please consolidate this learning at home when cutting up pizza or cakes, it is always good for the children to see mathematical concepts in real life situations.
