Week 6
In Maths, we have been looking at multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 and understanding what happens to a number when we do this. We have relied on our knowledge of place value to reason and problem solve and in our explanations, using key vocabulary in our sentences. We have also enjoyed lots of practical activity - jumping to the left or right by 1, 2 or 3 places as well as using nets to make our own dice for a game to consolidate our learning.
Consolidating our learning in Maths...
In Science, we have learned about the phases of the moon including the vocabulary of waxing and waning. Our lesson started by making a model to show the Earth's orbit of the sun and the Moon's orbit of the Earth. We learned the moon emits no light of its own but reflects light from the sun, so its appearance seems to change as the light from the sun is able to reach more or less of the moon as it orbits.
