World Book Day:

What a fabulous day. Everyone looked great! We had a drama workshop with Lizzie from thelittlepeopledramacompany.com, who runs our KS1 drama club. Then the children shared their books with children from 5/6B. This was wonderful to watch and listen to. A real treat which we hope to do again in the near future.

This afternoon, we listened to the book " A River" by Marc Martin. Wonderful pictures and words. The river past through different places, one being "Fields that looked like patchwork quilts". From this phrase, we created our own patchwork fields by printing.

Maths:

It's been a full on week honing our subtraction skills. Year 2 have been using Base 10 to subtract two 2 digit numbers. Year 1 have been working with Mrs Newell using number lines to subtract and crearing and using bar models to "find the difference" between numbers.

PE-OAA- Outdoor and Adventurous:

This PE unit aims to develop teamwork and map reading. Today we looked at a simple map of shapes and in pairs, we tested each other's map reading skills by placing a bean bag in different positions for our partner to locate using the map. To start with, we worked in groups to form a capital letter. It was interesting to see who could lead a group and who worked by themselves. Some groups had too many leaders; some had too many individual workers.

We will also work at map reading further in the Summer as part of our geography work and will use some of the orienteering resources around the school
