Week 1
Hello! A warm welcome back to the children, it has been lovely to see them refreshed after the Easter break. A special welcome to Mrs Young who joins 5/6C after Mrs Johns left us at the end of the spring term. Although the weather isn't quite matching the title it is now the summer term and we have lots of exciting things planned.
With Mrs Johns having responsibility for the class page for the last two terms I have a tough act to follow but I am hoping this page will be a great place for children and parents to look at the work that we have done over the last week. There will also be lots of photos on show!
This week we have dove straight back into our learning. In English we have started our new book The Water Tower. This graphic novel has already grabbed the children's attention with some fantastic theories about what is happening in the mysterious town of Preston. In math the children have started the shape unit of work where they have been classifying angles, estimating the size of angle and measuring angles. In science we have started our new topic, Animals Including Humans. In history the children really impressed with me their enthusiasm when looking at the reasons for WW2, some future historians in the making.
A new feature for the class page will be 'Tuesday's Tune' a highlight for the children on a Tuesday when they get to learn about my eclectic taste in music. This week the tune was Is It Any Wonder by Keane.
Reminder that this is the last week of swimming.
Thanks,
Mr H
