Week 2

We have continued to immerse ourselves into the graphic novel The Arrival by Shaun Tan in our ENGLISH sessions this week.  We have read Chapter 1. We followed a young man as he packs his bags and leaves his family to go and start a new life in another country. The children wrote a dairy entry, imagining how it would have felt to be the father, leaving his family behind.

In Chapter 2, we experience the father's journey, his struggles to communicate, find accommodation, a job and food, as well as following the stories of other immigrants.  The children have summarised his journey and have started to write a diary entry about his first day in the new City (which we named 'Zoscal')

On Friday, we enjoyed writing animal encyclopaedias of all the strange and wonderful creatures in Attalala. We had fun giving each animal a name and challenged ourselves to practice our learning about relative clauses by including as many as we appropriately could!

In Geography, we learnt about lines of latitude and longitude and labelled a world map with the continents and oceans.
