Week 5
As week 5 draws to a close we have all been delighted to see the Sun make a welcome return. Having been learning about it in science we have all appreciated it gracing us with its presence and saving us from the dreaded wet play. It has been another busy week with lots of fantastic work from the children.
English - Having finished out work based on Night of the Gargoyles we have now turned our attention to the International Space Station. The children will be aiming to write a non-chronological report next week so this week we have been researching all about the ISS. We have watched videos, studied fact files and even learnt about how you go to the loo in space!
Maths - This week year 6 were with myself and Mrs Young and year 5 were with Mrs Wellicome. Year 6 were looking at factors, multiples and the laws of divisibility. It was great to see the year 6s engage so well with their learning and apply the laws to reasoning based questions. Year 5 really impressed Mrs Wellicome with their enthusiasm and learning as well!
Afternoon subjects - In science we looked at how the planets orbit the Sun and even took our learning outside to do a live demonstration with children taking on the roles of the planets and the Sun. There were some questionable orbits and some questions about what would happen if a planet collided with another but hopefully that will not ever happen. In computing the children continued their work on coding. In history we looked at how tools and weapons were made from bronze and then iron and the impact this had on society.
Star of the Week - This week the award went to Andreea who really impressed Mrs Young and Mr Challis by being brave during her swimming lesson. Well done Andreea.
