1/2B
Welcome to 1/2 B
Teachers: Miss Hammond and Mrs Bright
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Patel and Mrs Sharma
Miss Hammond will teach Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
and
Mrs Bright will teach Thursday and Friday
Spring 1
PE will be on a Monday and Tuesday.
Monday will be gymnastics and Tuesday will be football.
Children can come into school in their PE kit on PE days.
Forest School
There is no Forest School for 1/2B this term. Year 2 will have their Forest School sessions in the Summer term.
These sessions take place whatever the weather, so please can children come into school wearing clothes according to the weather on that day, lightweight, long trousers and sleeves are best to avoid irritation from plants and insects. Your child will need a pair of wellies, but we kindly ask that children do not come into school wearing them, they should come into school wearing a pair of trainers/PE pumps.
Please ensure your child has a spare change of clothes in school on Forest School days as they often get very muddy and wet.
Allergy Advice
This year we have a child with a severe dairy allergy causing anaphylaxis in Key Stage 1.
Please do not be offended if we ask your child to get changed due to spillages of food during the day or if we ask your child to change on arrival at the start of their day.
For this reason a full change of clothes must always left on your child's peg and remain in school. (this does not have to be school uniform)

Book Bags:
In 1A and 1/2B, book bags will go on home on Thursdays to be returned on Tuesdays.
Your child will bring home three books. One is a phonics Big Cat Collins book (see image below) for your child to read to you. Your child has read this book three times with adult support during the week. The purpose of bringing it home is to increase their fluency. Rereading is a proven way to increase their confidence in applying their phonic knowledge.
The other books have words your child may not be able to read yet. It is for you to share and talk about together, however as your child grows in confidence, they will want to attempt to read all the books.
Home Learning Expectations In Year 1/2
- Reading Daily- You can expect to receive 3 reading books per week. Please do you best to read them all with your child and return them to school to be change on your child's designated day. (Please ask us if you are not sure when this is.)
- Spellings - Year 2 children have been given a Spelling Shed log on to access their spellings and learn them using the spelling games on the Spelling Shed website. There is an app version of this, but unfortunately there is a charge to download this. The website is totally free. New spellings are set every Thursday.
- Maths- Please play lots of number games, counting games such as Snakes and Ladders and games using dice. Please also look at the Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs) listed below. Your child will significantly benefit from reinforcing their learning in school by learning these with you at home.
Maths Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs)
Below are links to Year 1 and Year 2 Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs). Please work on these at home with your child as often as you can. Rapid recall of these facts will enable your child to feel confident, access their maths in class more quickly and easily and be ready to move on to the next Key Instant Recall facts. The facts for the whole year can be found using the weblink.
