Week 2 w/c 12.06.23

WOW - What a busy week! Firstly, we had the pleasure of being Star School on CWR Radio so Monday was filled with a buzz of excitement as live interviews and recordings took place throughout the day.  All the children enjoyed listening to them on BBC Sounds.  Thank you to Mrs Dean for the kind and thoughtful nomination. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday saw each phase's sports morning.

And that's not all - alongside our lessons, check out what else was happening...

On Wednesday, we welcomed a very special visitor - Elizabeth, a teacher from Bo in Sierra Leone.  She and 4 other teachers were on an exchange visit through the One World Link.  St Paul's has a link school in Bo - St Charles Lwanga as part of this charity.  She enjoyed observing Maths and Science lessons and talked to the children during collective worship about her visit to the UK.  Many of our classes were busy completing Send My Friend To School campaign work and letters for our school friends in Bo that day too.

On Thursday, all the children in Key Stage 2 attended an amazing event, organised by the Church of England local Diocese. There were over four thousand children who descended upon Stoneleigh Park for some truly spectacular performances. The afternoon saw possibly the biggest picnic any of us have ever attended. It was an exciting, fun and LOUD event - we certainly felt ALIVE !  afterwards and empowered by the key message that we can all be WORLD CHANGERS...

On Friday, a group of children from KS2 attended the Day of the African Child celebration - an annual event you may recall we held at St Paul's a number of years ago.  Our host this year was St Joseph's Primary School in Whitnash where the children met with Elizabeth again and the other teachers from Bo.  They enjoyed African themed workshops; drumming, singing, dancing and storytelling and handed their Send My Friend To School work to Matt Western MP.  The package for our link school was also safely delivered and I am pleased to report the OWL exchange teachers have had a a safe return journey home to Sierra Leone after an extremely busy fortnight in the UK.
