Week 6
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ...
All the classrooms are decorated and we have a magnificent tree in our hall to admire, simply dressed with white lights to help us reflect on the meaning of Christmas at this special time of year.
We have been treated to the EYFS Nativity performance AND a trip to the Spa Centre Panto, Cinderella, this week. Both very much enjoyed by all the children. It is lovely to see the delight and pride on children's faces when they see their younger siblings on stage.
Meanwhile, the children are still working hard in the classroom - take a look at our learning this week...
Having finished our unit on fractions, in MATHS we are now working on MULTIPLES and FACTORS. A little Friday treat of TTRS on the computers went down well with the class.
In ENGLISH, the children have all worked incredibly hard to produce stories in the style of "Wolves in the Walls" by Neil Gaiman. The main focus for this piece of writing was to punctuate speech correctly and use it to progress the plot of the story and covey our characters. I'm looking forward to marking their books once they have finished!
This half term we have enjoyed using Purple Mash to think about our Coding Skills. We have covered internet safety, and introduction to coding, repeated commands, IF/ELSE statements, variables and functions. It has been a steep learning curve for us all - the children have certainly taught me a thing or two!
We have now completed our Protective Behaviours programme. The two main themes that are reinforced throughout are:
* We all have the right to feel safe all the time
* We can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or small
