Week 2

It has been a great week in 5/6B and the children have become even more settled into the new routine and expectations of their new class.

English - We have started our new text, Night of the Gargoyles, which the children have really enjoyed. The text is a poem all about gargoyles coming to life at night. The children have performed freeze frames impersonating gargoyles, have thought of a range of words to describe the gargoyles appearance and movement. We finished with working on expanded noun phrases.

Maths - This week we started with our maths sets. All children are working in groups according to their year group and we have begun work on Place Value. Homework has been set for all children on Mathletics.

Afternoon subjects - In science we started our topic on Earth & Space with the children considering what existing knowledge they had. In history we looked at timelines and chronological order and looked specifically at our area of study, The Iron Age. In computing we have begun to look at online safety. In RSE and RE the children also began their new areas of learning.

Star of the Week - This week our star is Noah who was chosen because he has had a great start to Year 6, challenging himself to complete all of his work.

Head Teacher award this went to Owen who consistently demonstrates our school values all of the time whilst also showing great resilience and perseverance.

We have been intrigued to embark on the brand new RE curriculum and explore the idea of our “worldview”. We loved making playdough sculptures to symbolise how to approach different worldviews with curiosity, empathy, humility and a listening ear.
