week ending 29.04.22.

Welcome back after our Spring break!

The children have had a busy week back at school. We started the week celebrating St. George’s Day. The children got creative within class and have made a magnificent collage of a dragon.

English

We have begun a new unit of work on traditional tales. We began by thinking of as many different traditional tales as we could. We then read ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ together and identified some of the story language featured. We worked as part of a group to act out the story. We then sequenced the story on a story map. On Friday, we began to retell the story in sentences. We tried hard to remember to sound out our words, use capital letters at the start of a sentence and a full stop at the end. Well done !

Maths

We started practically this week in Year 1, measuring mass. We have enjoyed weighing lots of different objects using non-standard measures (for example number of cubes) and have made comparisons of different objects using language such as ‘lighter’ and ‘heavier’.

R.E.

In R.E. the children have started to look at the Sikhism religion. We read the story of Guru Nanak together and learned that Guru means ‘teacher’.

Retelling the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.
