Week 4

The excitement this week was NO PENS DAY, which meant all our lessons were very active on Wednesday, which the children really enjoyed! In English the class have been working on their description of a setting linked to Street Child. This will be useful for next week when the children will be writing their own final chapter of the book before reading the actual final chapter and seeing what becomes of Jim Jarvis. Also linking to English the children have been looking at different character description from the world of literacy including some amazing work by Roald Dahl. In maths this week the children have returned to fractions where they have been looking at ordering fractions and also adding and subtracting more complex fractions. In history we again had another link to Street Child with the children getting the chance to research the work of Doctor Barnardo. It was good for the children to see the huge impact he had on society and in particular children. In science the children have been learning about the different states of matter including doing an experiment involving bicarbonate of soda and orange juice. In RE the children have continued to learn about Buddhism and the importance of the Wesak festival. The children have also been working hard in ICT, RSE and PE continuing with their learning of the different subject areas that we are covering.
