Week 6

It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in 5/6C! A big thank you to all the children for decorating the classroom and also lending us a very fetching pink Christmas tree. Being in a primary school at this time of year is one of the best parts of the job as it is so lovely to see the children begin to get excited. Today is also the day of the Christmas fair and Christmas dinner so plenty of festive fun to be had.

This week has been DT week and the children have been researching, sketching, drawing, designing and making automata toys. It has been a big team effort with the children not only working on their own toys but also helping each other, this has been lovely to see! At times it has been a challenge but 5/6B have met it with their usual determination and good-humour and I know the finished products will be amazing. This week we have been doing guided reading instead of shared reading. It has given me the opportunity to listen to children read in small groups and discuss the text with them. It always is so nice to hear the children's opinions and how they justify their views. In maths we have been focussing on line graphs and the children have been plotting and drawing line graphs along with collecting and analysing their own data.

A reminder that next week on Wednesday the children will be going to the Spa Centre to watch Aladdin and also that swimming has now finished so children should come to school at normal time on Thursday.
