Week commencing 8.11.21

This week 1A have been introduced to some of their Nativity songs. The children have been so enthusiastic and are thoroughly enjoying the dance moves particularly in the 'Sheep Shimmy' song which involves a bit of wiggling! Nativity costume letters will be coming very soon so watch this space!

English

We have been busy reading the story of Lila and the Secret of the Rain. The story is set in Kenya and tells the story of a little girl named Lila who saves her village from drought by knowing the secret of rain. The children have explored how Lila feels at different parts of the story and talked about their favourite parts. They have even started to retell it using the help of the class story map.

Can you have a go at home children?

Maths

This week we have been introduced to 'takeaway'. We have talked about different words that mean 'takeaway' and the symbol that represents these words. We have used pictures and objects to take away numbers within 10.

We have also been continuing to work on our number bonds to 10 and we are getting brilliant at recalling them quickly! You might want to try this game at home...

Armistice Day

This week we have been talking about the significance of Armistice Day which included watching the video below.

We talked about how the poppy is a symbol of hope to many people and created some beautiful artwork to represent this.
