Welcome to the 5/6C class page!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our learning so far in 2026. Our class book, Street Child, has had us riveted and inspired lots of great writing. We have enjoyed learning about life in Victorian times and especially dressing up for our Victorian school day.

PE DAYS: 

Thursday: Swimming (wear school uniform)

Please either meet at the school reception at 8:30am or at Newbold Comyn Swimming Pool at 8:45am. Please do not leave until your child is with an adult. 

Your child will have 5 swimming sessions starting on the 26th Feb and finishing on 26th March.

Friday - Orienteering with Mrs Young and Mr Challis. Wear PE Kit and bring a coat and change of shoes, in case it is wet/muddy on the field.

Home Learning:

English

• Spellings - spelling will be taught in school weekly. Ten spelling words will be sent home on a Monday in your child's spelling journal. Please ensure your child writes an engaging, well-punctuated sentence for 5 of the words. The spelling journal is to be returned to school by the following Thursday. Children will be tested on all 10 spellings on the Friday.
• Reading - encourage children to read daily. Try to find time to share a book with your child each week. 

Maths

• Paper-based maths homework will be handed out to children on a Wednesday in a document wallet. The homework is due in the following Tuesday and will be marked in class.
• Times Tables Rockstars - encourage children to login and regularly practise their times tables.
