Week ending 5.5 2023

History:

This week we learnt about King Charles III and his life and produced a fact file.

We learnt more by reading the book "King Charles III's  Colourful Coronation". In one picture he says, "Stop the coach. Let's meet those people ahead". We thought about who we think the King should meet. We believed, as the King serves us all, he could meet our families, friends, pets, rich and poor. We drew pictures of who he should meet as well as drew pictures of items used in the coronation.

Maths and PE:

We don't believe maths should always happen whilst sitting at a table! This week, Year 1 has combined maths with running games in the hall and outside. They have consolidated their adding and subtraction skills up to 20 as well as solving word problems. All whilst working in pairs or threes and running/ dancing/ skipping to find the questions, sometimes crossing a river to escape Danger Island!

DT: Free-Standing Structures:

Thank you for all your cardboard boxes and cylinder containers. In DT this week the children used Lego to predict which pattern of bricks was the strongest.
