Week 4 w/c 23.01.23

This week has been all about welcoming visitors into school and our phase to enrich the children's curriculum and pass on essential life skills.  It was fantastic to see how engaged everyone was and how much they enjoyed the experiences on offer.

In science the Year 5/6 children have been learning about Human Body Systems. This week we were very excited to have the opportunity to take a hands-on approach to learning about the form and function of the heart. Mr Pete Wallis expertly guided willing pupils through the process of dissecting a lamb's heart.

Some of our Year 6s took part in Bikeability. The training helped them to develop skills for safe and responsible cycling on single lane roads, how to negotiate simple junctions by understanding who has priority on the road and dealing with moderate traffic. Despite the cold weather, they practised making good and frequent observations and how to communicate their intentions to others. Great skills to learn to keep ourselves and others safe - well done to all who took part!

On Wednesday morning the children in Years 5 and 6 had a taster session with the Jam Coding team.  The children were introduced to new coding software and had the opportunity to make a 2D racing game - this certainly caused an air of excitement across the phase !
