Welcome to 3/4

Summer Term 2 is approaching and I hope you are all having a wonderful jubilee weekend. Here are a few details for the new term and the updated time table.

This term, our PE days will change to Wednesday and Friday. We will now be swimming on a Wednesday for the next 5 weeks, starting this Wednesday 8th June. Please ensure all children are at the swimming pool by 8.45am. They must be supervised by an adult until I arrive. Alternatively, children may meet me at school by 8.35am, ready to walk with me to the pool. Children doing this should come into school via the main entrance. Friday will be athletics and children are asked to wear school PE kit and trainers. As the weather improves, please ensure your child has a sun hat, a water bottle and all day sun cream applied, as and when necessary.

Many thanks,

Mrs Bown

Times Table Check

All year 4 children will have the times table check this half term. Please help your child to prepare for this by regularly revisiting their times tables. However, I ask that you do not cause any undue pressure surrounding these. They have been well prepared over the course of this year and I only ask that they do their best.

If they wish to, these websites are quite useful.

PE

See above information. The days are now Wednesday and Friday.

Homework

Reading should be taking place daily both in school and at home. Children are free to change their books when they have finished the one they are reading. This can be done on any day. We do not have specific 'book changing days' as they may have had before. We do ask that, whenever possible, the children have read some of the book to an adult before changing it.

All children have also now received their Mathletics log on codes. Maths homework will now be set on Mathletics weekly. This can be completed on a computer or a tablet/phone. Please let us know if you are having issues accessing this. Homework will be set on a Monday to be completed by the following Monday. This will link closely to the area of maths we have been studying that week in school. This will help to reinforce your child's learning.

Your child has received a home spelling book. The details of what we expect the children to do with these books are inside the books and all children should be aware of our expectations regarding theses.

Any questions, please just ask. My email address is below. However, I am always happy to have a brief chat with you when you collect your child from school.
