Week 4 w/e 25.03.22

This 1/2 term, on a Thursday afternoon, the class have been split between Forest School with Mrs Bean and Computing with myself.  We have had the focus of Digital Literacy and quickly realised we needed lots of practice to switch the note books on, log in and find where we needed to go.  We began by opening a word document and copying and pasting in a picture we liked from searching on Google.  We then saved our document to a shared area on the school's main drive.  The following week, we added more pictures to our document and explored Time Table Rock Stars - a maths resource currently used in KS2.  This week, we felt much more confident to open a note book, switch on and log in, finding TTRS from a google search and signing in using our own username and password.  I was so relieved to see a sea of smiling faces and for the children to feel a real sense of achievement rather than frustration!   Later on in the afternoon, we explored Scratch and next week I will set them a task to complete!

Smiles and Excitement At Last ....

Our DT seems to be a great hit this half term too !  Our intended outcome is to create an animal puppet however first, we have to practice our sewing skills.  After exploring a range of puppets, in the past couple of weeks we have been trying our hands at running stitch and overstitch.  Everyone is showing real commitment and effort - well done 2C!

Concentrating hard on our sewing techniques...

In ENGLISH, we have created leaflets this week entitled Changes Brought About by the Great Fire of London.  The children have shown off their recall of non fiction writing skills - well done !  We also wrote a recount in the form of a letter all about our phase trip to All Things Wild.  The children really enjoyed looking back on the photographs from the day and talking about their favourite memories.

In MATHS, we have continued looking at shape and lines of symmetry.  Next week, the focus will be on 3D shapes and their properties.
