Week ending 10.2.2023

Geography:

Continuing our geography topic on continents, we learnt about Asia and in particular China.

We found out about the Great Wall of China, Terracotta soldiers, Chinese numbers and Chinese New Year. We enjoyed making and designing our own dragons, writing addition number sentences in Chinese and trying to use chopsticks.

DT- cooking with Year 2.

This week we made, tasted and evaluated our homemade raita, salsa and thousand island dressing. We tasted and evaluated shop bought guacamole and hummus. The children enjoyed working in groups and tasting things they were not familiar with. They were encouraged to cut using the bridge and claw method.

Maths:

Lots of learning and consolidating addition methods this week especially using our number bonds to 10 to learn our bonds to 20. We played a great pairs game to help.
