Week 1 w/e 04.03.22

It was lovely to welcome everyone back to Spring Term 2 !  We started our new week with an exciting topic entry day.  First, the children enjoyed a picture clue treasure hunt before writing a story prediction, using the clues - well all except one!  A special mystery to be uncovered later in the day...

After break, we discussed what we thought our topic might be and we had a couple of correct guesses - well done 2C - the Great Fire of London.  We then completed some themed maths work, consolidating our times table and division fact knowledge, before lunch.

In the afternoon, we completed a lesson comparing London now and back in 1666 and began thinking about how we know about events that have happened in the past.  After break, the whole phase eagerly awaited, the big reveal of our last clues...

What a wonderful 1st day back !

The Great Mystery Revealed....

During Monday's collective worship we learned about the significance of Shrove Tuesday.  Tuesday was, of course, March 1st - St David's Day too.  So for our House Day events we decided to combine the two!  Firstly, we held a special St David's collective worship followed by an art session learning to draw daffodils, the national flower of Wales.  Next we split into our house teams for Pancake Races.  Great fun was had by all and the overall winners of the house trophy were.... St David's !!!  Well done to everybody.

Our beautiful St David's Day daffodils - we are using them to make a display in the KS1 corridor...
