Week 1

Friday 4th March

Well done 4C for settling down to learn so seamlessly after the well-earned half term break. Everyone has returned refreshed and eager to learn. This week, the children have started reading Beowulf, a Saxon heroic tale, in our English lessons and have been learning about decimals in mathematics.

The school celebrated St. David’s Day on Tuesday and the children painted Welsh mountain landscapes in the style of the artist Kyffyn Williams, a sample of which are now brightening up the KS2 corridor. We also learned how to wish each other Happy St David’s Day in the Welsh in our first assembly back in the school hall together in some time.

On Thursday, we all enjoyed World Book Day, with children and teachers arriving in their most comfortable reading clothes or dressed as characters from books. The afternoon involved sharing our favourite books with our class mates and discussing why we liked them. The children also loved playing a game of “The Masked Reader”, the video of which can be found on our class web page.

Macey was the recipient of the Head Teacher award this week for always being on task, producing great work and being a great class member. Our values winner this week was Lily-May, who showed the school value of challenge as she challenged herself by working hard in all areas of the curriculum. Congratulations to you both!
