Week 2

We have had another fantastic week. In English we have been writing a character description with similes for Veruca Salt. We read the chapter Charlie's Birthday and looked at how the author built suspense. The children then wrote sentences about Charlie's thoughts and feelings.

In Maths we have been learning about unit and non-unit fractions. We then started learning about multiplication, learning to identify equal groups and to use the x symbol.

In Science we carried out an investigation finding out what temperature melts chocolate the fastest. The children discussed how to make it a fair test, used thermometers to measure the temperature of the water and recorded their results as a table and bar chart.

We learnt about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. The children showed respect during the two minute silence. The children then created beautiful poppy collages.
