Week ending 21/10/2022

English:

We've finished our Traction Man stories! Finally all the children wrote out their stories neatly and we have published our class book. Such a good week's work.

Science:

Continuing the Traction Man theme, this week we completed two science investigations for Traction Man.

1) To find the best waterproof material for a new diving suit.

2) To find the best stretchy material for a new Superhero suit as his previous one was a present form Granny and was made out of wool and unravelled.

Lots of talk and excitement as:

We predicted based on our knowledge.

We planned and ran a  test.

We thought about what we needed to keep the same and what we needed to change each time.

We recorded the results.

We made conclusions.

Interesting talk around wool. We all thought the wool felt would not be waterproof then we discussed sheep and their wooly coats; they had to have a high degree of waterproofness or their skin would be wet all the time.

Interesting talk about what our clothes are made from. We  looked at the labels in our jumpers and cardigans.
