Week Beginning 16th November
This week we based some of our work around the book The Gruffalo
We acted out the story, painted pictures of the characters and wrote character descriptions.
Later in the week we looked at the rhyming words in the story. We completed various different rhyming challenges during our free flow sessions.
We looked at different ways of representing the numbers four and five.
We started to investigate different ways of making four or five.
We have now finished learning all of the phase 2 sounds and phase 2 tricky words. We are spending a couple of weeks consolidating our knowledge of these.
We painted our divas using the pearlescent paint.
We looked at the Understanding Christianity unit God & Creation.
Our key question in this unit of work was Why is the name of God so important to Christians?
Tessa is a Christian and each session she brought her treasure box to show us.
In the first session we learnt that Christians believe God made the world and all of the animals, including Tessa’s favourite animal jellyfish. Some of us created our own jellyfish.
In the second session we looked at the Christian festival of Harvest and linked it to the Harvest Service we watched from St Paul’s Church. We drew and wrote about things we are thankful for.
In the third session we learnt that the name God is very special to Christians. We listened to the story of the precious pearl. We painted our names and decorated them.
