It has been such a pleasure to have all of 5/6A back in school this week and we have certainly hit the ground running with all the work that has gone on. It has been so lovely to see all the children's smiling faces as they enjoy spending time together again.
This week in English we have been looking at different types of figurative language and then have been using it in descriptions of our own mythical creatures. In maths we have been learning about both 2D and 3D shapes and looking at their specific properties and trying to work out formulas to deduce them.
We have also been celebrating Science week with an afternoon focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths). We have thought about the attributes that we have have that might be useful in a STEM job. We all loved the video sent in by Georgia (Eleni's Mum). It was amazing to hear about her job and the work that she does in designing Earthquake proof buildings. We have been designing inventions to make the world a a better place and constructing towers (made from Marshmallows and spaghetti) and testing their stability when put under earthquake conditions (jelly!).
What a first week back!
