Topic - History
This half term our topic will be 1066 and beyond. The children will be finding out about History since 1066. We will start by looking at the Battle of Hastings, The Doomsday Book and The Magna Carta.
In English we will be doing some creative writing about Dragons. So far our class has adopted a baby dragon that hatched in our classroom. The children all voted and decided to call him Jeff! He has a habit of moving around our classroom when we aren't looking!
The children have all designed their own dragons. This week the children have been writing setting descriptions and character descriptions ready to begin their dragon stories next week. The children have been asked to think about their stories over the weekend.
This term we have been consolidating our learning about place value and the number system. The children have been finding out about negative numbers and roman numerals. We are now moving on to addition strategies and applying them to real life problems.
In Science this term, the children have been finding out about light and shadow. They have been experimenting with light and finding out about the way that it travels. There are some great resources to support this learning on the BBC schools website and the DK website.
While half of the class have been at forest school, the other half of the class have been busy sewing. We have used the book 'Aliens Love Underpants' as a starting point to design and create our own Alien soft toys. The children have been working incredibly hard on these and have amazed me with their creativity and perseverance!
