READING

Reading is a vital skill, providing access to the whole curriculum and all the imaginary worlds beyond.

It is hoped that you will read with your child every night to reinforce their phonics learning, fluency and comprehension skills.

Please take the time to record your child's reading in their home/school reading diary - which should be returned to school EVERY DAY.  When an adult reads with them at school, we can then record it in the diary too.

Reading should be a pleasurable activity, therefore if your child is too tired, does not want to read or has chosen a book from the library beyond their reading ability, perhaps you could read to them, modelling those skills we teach - fluency, tone, intonation, taking note of punctuation and expression.

As always, if you would like to discuss your child's reading, feel free to speak with Mrs Leng.
