Welcome to 5/6CL

 Hello and welcome to the 5/6CL class webpage. Our aim is to share some of the great work your children are producing this year.

Children, keep checking  to see if your work is on the webpage, as if it is, this will mean you have earned yourself 10 house points!

CLASS NEWS

SPRING TERM

English - Our book this term is 'Who Let the Gods Out' by Maz Evans. This ties in with our topic (information below). 

Topic (History) - This term our topic is ' Ancient Greeks'. As part of this topic we will be exploring key events(The Trojan War/The Battle of Marathon), researching Gods and Goddesses and the origin of the Olympics.

In Geography we will be further developing our mapping skills, in particular  our ability to locate countries- our focus being European Geography.

 

PE - We will be taking part in a range of activities focussed around gymnastics, dance and invasion games .

Our  class will  be swimming in the Summer Term. 

Please remember your PE kit, clearly labelled.no Remember to provide warm clothing for the colder days!

 

Science - Our learning in science is focussed around  Growth and Change in Animals and Humans.

 

RE - As a Church of England School, RE forms a key part of our learning and this term we are studying a range of topics. This term our topic is British Muslims. 

 

Homework - A reminder that homework is set for maths, topic and spellings:

  • Maths homework is sent out on a Wednesday and is due in on a Monday. We often use Mathletics and the children all have a yellow record book that is used to keep a record of tasks completed and parents are encouraged to give feedback.
  • Topic homework is usually a project, information to follow.
  • Spellings are set on a Friday and will be tested in class on Friday of the following week.
